NATIONAL SEMINAR

2008 NATIONAL SEMINAR

31st National Seminar, Annual General Meeting and Exhibition, 2008. “Moving Forward”

This year and next will see quite revolutionary changes in the way that sport in Scotland is both governed and administered. The Scottish Government have indicated that they propose to introduce a new range of initiatives at national level which will affect all agencies involved in the administration and development of sport in Scotland, including local authorities, Sport & Leisure Trusts, national governing bodies of sport and local sports councils.

As you know, SALSC has recently completed a fundamental review of its administration and management structure and has introduced a series of new procedures and systems which will see the organisation better placed to support member local sports councils and their partners such as local authorities and Sport & Leisure Trusts. SALSC will also strive to develop close links with Government and the other agencies that may be responsible for the future of sport in Scotland.

The SALSC National Seminar will take place at the Airth Castle Hotel, Airth, by Falkirk, on 2nd and 3rd February. The seminar will examine the Governments proposals for sport both in Plenary Sessions and Workshop Sessions. During these sessions the reorganised SALSC will fully debate national and international topics appropriate to the work of SALSC, its membership and its partners. In addition the programme will cover a number of issues of particular interest to your Council, many of which will relate to how SALSC will function in the future both generally and in relation to its membership.

I am pleased to let you have a copy of the final Programme for the weekend.

I also have pleasure therefore in also enclosing the appropriate Delegate Registration Form which must be returned to me as soon as possible. The Hotel Accommodation Form should be returned to the SALSC Group Organiser at the Airth Castle Hotel, Airth to secure your accommodation.

We hope that in additional to your normal delegation your Council will also make every effort to encourage the attendance of younger people in your area at the National Seminar and you will note that NO Delegate Fee will be charged for these delegates.

Yours sincerely,

David Arnott
Administrator of SALSC
