JUNIOR CURLING
SALSC JUNIOR CURLING 2005
The inaugural Scottish Association of Local Sports Councils Inter
District Youth Curling competition was hosted by Hamilton Sports Council
at Hamilton Ice Sports Club on Friday 14 April 2006.
Eight rinks representing Sports Councils from Ross & Cromarty in the
north to Scottish Borders in the south were in attendance for this Youth
Curling Tournament.
Tournament winners were Hamilton Sports Council represented by Kyle
Waddell (Skip), Andrew Ballantyne, Craig Waddell and Rachael Hannen, who
recorded a narrow victory in the Final over the East Kilbride Sports
Council team of Debbie Allison (Skip), Steven Murray, Rebecca Ogg, and
Sara Wood.
In the match for third position, Motherwell Sports Council defeated
Clydesdale Sports Council.
South Lanarkshire Sports Councils Forum Chairman Councillor Jackie
Burns, Spokesperson for Youth in South Lanarkshire attended the Opening
Ceremony and was a spectator at the early games.
At the Closing Ceremony the SALSC Chairman, Joy O’Brien presented
prizes and in her vote of thanks Mrs O’Brien thanked Hamilton Sports
Council for hosting the event, their Executive Committee member George
Mackenzie and the organising Committee and South Lanarkshire Leisure’s
Marion Wotherspoon for the appropriate pre-tournament arrangements and
Hamilton Ice Sports Club for their excellent co-operation in the
organisation of the event. |
