Sports & Events Interest Group

The Sports & Events Interest Group has one of the most easily defined work remits of all the SALSC interest groups, organising the 6 SALSC sports events and planning the annual SALSC Seminar that takes place every February. Within the groups remit there is direction for continual assessment of the events and Seminar programme to ensure they bring value to the membership.

SALSC’s events are offered out to the membership for hosting – this provides members with an opportunity to promote their sports council’s achievements and good work, raise funds and work in partnership with their member clubs and local authority. The Seminar on the contrary is solely organised by the group and is SALSC’s flagship event bringing in high profile speakers and is one of the rare opportunities to bring the membership together.

As with all the interest groups, the Interest Group Chair and Vice Chair are elected while the remaining group members are either nominated or hand selected from the membership. As per all interest groups the group meets on average every 2 months and is supported by the services of SALSC’s Administrator and Policy Director.
