PARTNERS

In today’s sporting environment an effective national body cannot serve its members to the best of its ability by operating in isolation due to the variety and complexity of the issues facing local and national sport, therefore local and national partners are essential.

National Bodies

SALSC highly values the importance of developing strong relationships with an extensive network of national bodies that are specialists in both a sporting (e.g. SGBs, sportscotland) and non-sporting (e.g. Volunteer Development Scotland, Child Protection in Sport) field. These partnerships allow SALSC to always be informed of latest developments, ensure the voice of local sport is heard within these developments and keep its membership updated, trained and ready to respond to any changes in the sporting environment.

Local

Developing national partnerships benefits the entire membership but it is also important to develop local partnerships to strengthen and support the work of individual members - this often means developing a good working relationship with local authorities. Working with local authorities does not compromise the independence of Local Sports Councils but can provide vital resource and funding support to help Local Sports Councils in their work.

The development and strengthening of these relationships can only be to the advantage of Scottish sport – SALSC can respond to the needs of its members and can put its partners in direct contact with local clubs and their members through its member Local Sports Councils.
