SALSC | Scottish Association of Local Sports Councils

"The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand. "

Vince Lombardi

Political Influence

Sport is Scotland's greatest social movement; inclusive of age, gender, race and creed; uniting communities and inspiring a nation. Scotland is world renowned for its passion for sport, yet this isn't reflected in the priority sport is given with those that represent us.

Sport's impact on society extends far beyond winning medals - sport is Scotland's missing link, a vehicle for change; it impacts on all areas of society from health to justice to education. SALSC and its partners in the Scottish Sports Alliance (made up of SALSC, the Scottish Sports Association and Scottish Student Sport) advocates that sport has a major role to play in supporting, uniting and improving our nation.

SALSC, through our own work and the work we do with the Scottish Sports Alliance, aims to show the Government and politicians, local and national, the value that sport plays in Scottish society. Our work tries to focus the voice of more than 900,000 men and women that regularly participate in sport in Scotland to ensure politics in Scotland gives sport in Scotland the best possible chance to succeed.
