South Lanarkshire Councils Free Access Sports Scheme to Benefit Clubs and Local Sports Councils

Following the success of South Lanarkshire Council giving free access to their 105 outdoor sports pitches to the under 16 years sports teams affiliated to their local sports council, the council has agreed to extend the initiative to include free access to indoor leisure and sports complexes for sports clubs catering once again for the under 16 years age group.

The outdoor pitches scheme mainly covered football, rugby and hockey clubs. However, this new indoor initiative will be of great benefit to clubs participating in sports such as Badminton, Basketball, Gymnastics, Sports Hall Athletics, Martial Arts, Handball, Racket Sports, Netball, Indoor Football and Swimming Training.

Qualification Criteria

Free access only applies to clubs who are affiliated to Clydesdale, Cambuslang/Rutherglen, East Kilbride and Hamilton Sports Council with an established child protection policy.
