NEW VETTING AND BARRING SCHEME

PROTECTING VULNERABLE GROUPS
The New Vetting and Barring Scheme
Monday 22 October 2007
Edinburgh
Chaired by Keith Aitken, Broadcaster and Journalist

More than 800,000 workers in Scotland will be affected by the provisions outlined in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) (Scotland) Act 2007.

This conference explains the act and how it will affect those working with children and vulnerable adults.

The Key Issues

  • Publication of the Scottish Executive’s consultation on the new vetting and barring scheme
  • What areas of work should be regulated under the act?
  • How is the system of vetting and barring expected to work?
  • What are the cost implications for organisations affected?
  • How and over what period should members of the regulated workforce be brought into membership of the scheme?
  • Should checks be retrospective, and if so, how will this be done?
  • How should we strike a balance between protecting vulnerable groups and over regulation

For further details, including the full agenda and delegate rates, please see the conference website.
