TENNIS SCOTLAND APPOINTMENT

SALSC Congratulates Executive Committee Member David Laing on his appointment to the Board of Directors of Tennis Scotland.

David is currently also the Chairman of Roxburgh Sports Council.


WEST FIFE VILLAGES SKI INITIATIVE

Attached is a report by Ray Wood on the result of the West Fife Villages Ski Initiative which was organised by Fife Council and presented as a Workshop at last years National Seminar.

This initiative has proved to be an outstanding success and is being continued this year.

THE PROTECTION OF VULNERABLE ADULTS BILL

SALSC was recently invited by the Scottish Executive to comment on The Protection of Vulnerable Adults by currently being considered by the Parliament's Education Committee.

Executive Committee Member David Little and Hon. Vice President Ian Thomson were asked by the Executive to address the request received from the Executive and to present comments on the content of the Bill. I attach for your information a copy of the Presentation which David will make to the Education Committee to-day on behalf of SALSC and based on his experiences as General Secretary of the Scottish Youth Football Association.

David will be leading a Workshop Session at the National Seminar on his experiences of the operation of current Child Protection Legislation."

SALSC SECURES SPONSORSHIP FROM TROPHIES DIRECT
 
SALSC is delighted to announced that sponsorship of the SALSC National Sports Events Programme has been secured from TROPHIES DIRECT.
 
Trophies Direct will provide trophies for the winners of the various categories in each of the various sports events being organised by the Association, for at least the current year.
 
In addition, Trophies Direct has also agreed to make special purchase discount facilities available to the Association, its member Sports Councils, their individually affiliated sports clubs and also to the Associations Associate Member Organisations.
 
The basis of the agreement is that all trophies, medals and momentos and other goods within their catalogues can be purchased from Trophies Direct at a special discount of 20% of costs with a commission fee to SALSC of 3% of net sales, up to a maximum of £5000, which would be increased to 5% thereafter.

SALSC ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2006

Life Member and former Chairman Millar Stoddart congratulates Joy O’Brien (Motherwell Sports Council) on becoming Chairman of SALSC for a second year.

SALSC NATIONAL SEMINAR 2006

I am delighted to advise your that the 2006 National Seminar, Annual General Meeting and Exhibition of the Association will take place in the Crowne Plaza Glasgow Hotel, Glasgow over the week-end 3rd to 5th February, 2006.

The Seminar is being organised with the support of sportscotland an the City of Glasgow Council.

The Association has been able to negotiate extremely competitive rates with Crowne Plaza Glasgow Hotel for a stay which will include fully inclusive accommodation and meals from the afternoon of Friday until lunch on Sunday at a rate of £180 per person - twin sharing and £245 per person - single occupancy. Probably the best Value for Money event in the national calendar !!

The Delegate Registration Fee has again been retained at £25, the exact same as in 1994.

The programme is being developed at the time but it promises to be of our usual high standard.

Full details of the Programme and booking forms will be issued early next month but if you wish to make a provision registration of delegates at this time please let me know.
