SLC SPORTS AWARDS EVENING
At the annual South Lanarkshire Council Sports Awards evening held at the Council’s Banqueting Suite in Hamilton, Angus McConnell received a unique special award from South Lanarkshire Council in recognition of over 40 years service to East Kilbride Sports Council.

INTERNATIONAL BOWLERS AT THANKERTON
The 19th Clydesdale Sports Council International Ladies Bowling Tournament was hosted by Thankerton Bowling Club on Friday 21st August. Twenty four international Bowlers, including Scottish, British, Commonwealth, European and Atlantic Championship medal winners were in the line up.

SALSC CONFERENCE IN 2010 - YOUR THOUGHTS
It was commented that at the end of the last SALSC Conference there was no opportunity for delegates to feed back their thoughts – this was by no means overlooked but it was felt this was best done electronically however due to delays in confirming the SALSC budget it has taken a while for this new system to come online.

SALSC has received an official invitation from the Academy of Physical Education in Ollerup, Denmark to send 2 candidates on a 17 week Sports Scholarship. The closing date for applications will be Friday 2nd June 2009 with the project starting on 9th August 2009.

BBC SPORTS MONTHLY PROGRAMME
BBC Scotland is running a monthly sports programme that showcases a variety of sports and sports related stories. The last of these programmes was broadcast on Sunday 3rd May at 5:25pm directly after the snooker and it featured a shinty story and a short edit on the Scottish Volleyball Cup final.

Every year East Ayrshire Council’s Leisure Development Services, in conjunction with the Kilmarnock Harriers, organises a 5k race and Family Fun Day to raise money for the Ayrshire Hospice with every penny going to the charity.

This Scottish Disability Golf Partnership event is open to anyone with a visual impairment. Blind and vision impaired golfers are invited to submit their names for team selection and participation in the highlighted match play event that will see the Rest of the World team take on North America.
