The 2010 SALSC Seminar

As I’m sure you will all be aware through the last 2 editions of the SALSC eNewsletter the SALSC Seminar is fast approaching. However, I also know how many emails people receive on a daily basis and how easy it is for this information to be overlooked, especially at this busy time of the year. With that in mind I wanted to send little reminder about the conference along with a short description of the content for this year’s exciting programme.

“After months of planning SALSC is pleased to be at the stage when it can now announce its plans for the 2010 Conference and invites members and partners to start registering for places.

The 2010 Conference, entitled "Investing in the Future" will take place at the Aviemore Highland Hotel across the weekend of 13th and 14th March and focus on topics close to all the hearts of all sports councils and member clubs - attracting and applying for funding and engaging with young people.

Spread over the whole of Saturday and Sunday morning SALSC can already confirm that key note presentations will be delivered by the Scottish Minister for Public Health and Sport, Shona Robison MSP, the Chief Executive of Volunteer Development Scotland (VDS), George Thomson and SkillsActive's Manager for Scotland, Pam Scott.

Also, this time around more attention has been given to the workshops with delegates able to choose two workshops (each lasting 1 hour 30 mins) from the three on offer on the Saturday. In line with the theme of the Conference there will be workshops on:

  • Applying for funds: to be given by a representative from the Lottery along with a development officer with a successful record of applying;

  • Attracting sponsorship: given by members from the business world who will be able to advise you on what to include when you apply to business for sponsorship;

  • How to engage with young people: given by Andrew McIntosh form Edinburgh Leisure who has a vast experience working with young people of all ages.

The Sunday will be more introspective and, after receiving positive feedback last year, will see a return of the 4 regional discussion groups much with, as requested, more time allocated for getting your views across.

For all the latest copy of your programme and for an application form please see the attachments to this email and we look forward to seeing you in Aviemore in 2010!!!”

I look forward to seeing many of you there.
