NEWSSALSCSport in Communities: Improving Provision and ParticipationSALSC is proud to be the official partner for Holyrood Communications’ forthcoming ‘Sport in the Communities’ One Day Conference taking place on 24th June 2009 at the Royal Society of Edinburgh. This should be an exciting and extremely relevant conference looking at all aspects of sport in local communities with a number of high profile speakers including: Shona Robison MSP, Minister for Public Health and Sport, The Scottish Government The Rt Hon Henry McLeish, Former First Minister of Scotland Graham Watson, Executive Director, Winning Scotland Foundation David Gourlay, Director, Hall Aitken And our very own Councillor Bob Ellis, Chair of Perth and Kinross Sports Council This timely conference will examine these key questions and explore how to encourage greater development and use of local facilities for sport as well as the broader role of sport in promoting community engagement and cohesion. The Scottish Government Minister for Public Health and Sport, Shona Robison MSP, will make the opening address and the conference will also look at the work of the Scottish Parliament’s Pathways into Sport inquiry and explore how to encourage more people of all ages to take up sport at all levels.
